Sometimes there is nothing more comforting at the end of a long day than queing up your current Netflix obsession and curling up on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn and a glass of wine. This week we are snacking on Darn Near Perfect Popcorn (recipe below) paired with a California Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley (and is made by celebrated winemaker, Julien Fayard). They key to picking the perfect Chardonnay for popcorn is to select one without overwhleming oak or butter profiles. And while we certainly won’t judge those who want a side of butter with their butter, a sprightly Chardonnay with just a whipser of buttery notes is the perfect compliment to this classic popcorn recipe. The rich mouthfeel is balanced by a complex minerality, making this wine a perfect choice.
