Inky purple color with sweet cassis, smoldering black tea, spice and licorice. Mocha and earth notes are already taking shape around the core of plum and blackberry fruit. It is medium to full-bodied and concentrated, with silky tannins and a long, long finish. This is an outrageously fine wine.
80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines averaging 25 years of age.
The Right Bank Canon- Fronsac vineyards of Chateau du Gaby were first planted in the 1700’s. The 16 hectare vineyards of Chateau Gaby are planted on limestone soils with a clay sub soil with vines that are over 35 years old. The terroir can in some ways be compared to that which you could find in the vineyards of St. Emilion. Current vineyard management and farming techniques include organic farming methods. The wine is aged in 55% new, French, oak barrels for between 12 and 18 months.
