Classic claret style texture and structure featuring ripe tannins and plenty of dark fresh berry fruit. Although forward enough to be delicious with tonight’s dinner, this wine will reward patient cellaring. Toasty notes from 1/3 new oak are well integrated and will mellow further with 3-8 years of age in bottle. This 4.2-hectare estate, straddling the border between the Listrac and Moulis appellations is surrounded by the prized estates of Château Poujeaux, Chasse Spleen and Maucaillou on the Grand Poujeaux hill that is well known to have the finest vineyards in the area. The goal here is to produce a traditional styled wine with modern equipment and techniques where possible. Thermo regulation during fermentation in stainless steel vats is followed by 14 months aging in 1/3 new French oak barrels. 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot. Hand harvested.
