Rich and enticing aromas of blackberry, vanilla beans, baking spices, dark chocolate and caramel. Opulent velvety finish.
This is a new wine from Dave Phinney’s Prisoner Wine Group. This wine is primarily cab with some Zin, merlot, petit Syrah, and Syrah. . . .and probably the most difficult bottle to photograph, ever. Best barrels from the Prisoner Wine Co blended together.
This is the third Prisoner vintage for winemaker Jen Beloz. Jen is an incredibly talented winemaker and has spent the last few years working along side Dave Phinney to retain the quality and continuity of the Prisoner brand. Prior to this, she worked with Joel Peterson at Ravenswood for over 10 years.
The Prisoner was created and inspired by the drinkable “mixed blacks” first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in the Napa Valley. In 2003 The Prisoner was launched and soon became the most recognized innovative and unique Napa Valley Red Wine blend, leading the resurgence of blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely “mix” of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Charbono.
Bold aromas of black cherry and plum are heightened by hints of oak and Madagascar vanilla. A soft and velvety palate of anise, dark cocoa powder and roasted sage lead into a dense finish with luscious tannins.
