2016 Chanin ‘Bien Nacido Vineyard’ Chardonnay

WA93+ The 2015 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard bursts forth from the glass with vibrant white peach, pink grapefruit and yuzu aromas with underlying marzipan, orange blossom and honeyed toast hints. Light-bodied, with intense stone fruit and citrus flavors that punch above its weight, it has an electric backbone of freshness and long, minerally finish. 93+
WE93 Clean and crisp aromas of Gravenstein apples, Bartlett pear and key lime pith meet with a slight hint of smoke wafting in the background on this bottling by onetime wunderkind Gavin Chanin. The sizzling acidity presents delicate flavors of nectarine, peach and mango, with a touch of butter toward the finish. The wine steadily improves days after opening. Enjoy now through 2025.
VIN92 The 2015 Chardonnay Bien Nacido is laced with essence of apricot pit, peach, chamomile, honey and mint. Creamy, layered and voluptuous, yet also medium in body, the 2015 is absolutely delicious. I would prefer to drink it on the earlier side.
JD92 The 2015 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard is racy and ultra-fresh, with notes of citrus, salt block, white peach and hints of spice in its medium-bodied, surprisingly concentrated and textured personality. It’s a beautiful Chardonnay that’s going to hit prime time in another year (or so) and keep for a decade or more. This cuvée was barrel fermented and spent 15 months in 20% new French oak.
