After thirteen consecutive vintages, we’re continually making new friends with this utterly amiable, appealing cuvée. Located dead center in one of the most revered growing areas of Sonoma County, Stiling Vineyard provides us with a perfect source for a classic Russian River calling card.
Like most of the other vineyard sites we worked with in 2016, our blocks of Stiling chardonnay came to perfect ripeness at lower sugar levels. Instead of multiple passes, our fruit came in with a single pick, perfectly mature and super fresh.
So, while this packs all the hallmark flavors of the exotic Rued clone (white flowers, peach and citrus oil) there’s also a sense of grace on the palate. Buoyed by a hand-in-glove selection of oak barrels, we’re smitten with this rendition. We absolutely love the freshness found in this vintage, and while it will be tempting to drink young it should age beautifully for years. 320 cases produced.
