VIN95 The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is a gorgeous wine. Dark, intensely mineral and savory, the 2016 expresses all the essence of what makes Coombsville such an exciting appel;ation. Dark, sumptuous and mysterious, with tremendous character, the 2016 has a lot going on. Tightly wound and full of energy, the 2016 is superb.
Rewa is one of the most distinctive Napa Valley Cabernets I have tasted in some time. Entreprenur G.S. Sareen has assembled a team with vineyard manager Mike Wolf and winemaker Celia Welch to help realize his dream for what this land should express in a wine. The Rewa Cabernet is made from the Northern part of the property, while the rest of the fruit is sold to other wineries. The first vintages have certainly been impressive. Readers will want to put Rewa on their radar screens. This is an estate to watch.
Celia Welch, Winemaker: Grown in one of the cooler AVA’s of Napa Valley, 2016 Rewa displays aromas of fruit, earth, spice and herbal notes that are so tightly intertwined, it is difficult to separate them. The wine is very aromatic, but the cinnamon, nutmeg, anise, spiced plum, sweet leather, toasted oak, vanilla, tobacco and sage notes are all in balance, with no one aspect of the wine dominating the others. At entry, the flavors show focus and intensity, with the bright fruit acid adding lift while the earth and oak tones provide base notes for balance. The tannins are present but show some resolution, and blend nicely with the fresh plum and berry notes which add length to the finish.
