2016 Sleight of Hand Cellars ‘Spellbinder’ Red Blend

JD91 The 2016 Spellbinder is a value-priced blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot. Deep ruby/purple-colored with lots of black and blue fruits, earth, and gravelly minerality, it has terrific depth of fruit, no hard edges, and solid overall freshness and purity.
Estate Notes: Our 2016 Spellbinder is a gorgeous blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Cabernet Franc, 12% Syrah, and 7% Merlot. It is dramatically aromatic, with classic Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc herb and earth notes framed by graphite overtones. It is a medium-bodied wine showing both red and dark fruit characteristics, including bing cherry, blackberry, and cassis, that finishes with soft tannins and bright acid. This wine is the perfect everyday wine that drinks well alone, or as an accompaniment to a broad spectrum of foods, from meaty fish, like tuna and salmon, to pork, beef, and chicken.
