American Alex Gambal visited Burgundy back in the 1990’s, fell in love with it, and left the world of real estate. Twenty years later Domaine Alex Gambal is a part of Burgundy’s fine wine families. Today, two thirds of the wines come from the Domaine’s 12 hectares of vines certified organic. The goal is to express character, terroir and purity of each wine.
We tasted the 2016 vintage in February and were amazed by the OUTSTANDING quality—this is a Burgundy lover’s essential wine to have in their cellar AND it is not a very well-known brand to the general public, mostly for insiders. True Burgundy gems!!
DEC94 This 02.ha plot, acquired by Alex Gambal in 2008, is one of the more individual sites in Chassagne, rich in iron ore. Located in the middle band of the appellation, it has produced a delicious 2017 with plenty of sap and grip, pithy acidity and stylish oak handling.
BH90-92 This possesses a more elegant and layered nose of zest, white orchard fruit and soft wood toast wisps. There is good volume to the relatively energetic middle weight flavors that exhibit better mid-palate density and notably more flesh on the sappy and nicely lingering finale.
