American Alex Gambal visited Burgundy back in the 1990’s, fell in love with it, and left the world of real estate. Twenty years later Domaine Alex Gambal is a part of Burgundy’s fine wine families. Today, two thirds of the wines come from the Domaine’s 12 hectares of vines certified organic. The goal is to express character, terroir and purity of each wine.
We tasted the 2016 vintage in February and were amazed by the OUTSTANDING quality—this is a Burgundy lover’s essential wine to have in their cellar AND it is not a very well-known brand to the general public, mostly for insiders. True Burgundy gems!!
BH90-92 In contrast to the pretty aromas of the Charmes-Chambertin, this is quite firmly reduced and unreadable today. Otherwise here too there is a sleek, intense and finer mouth feel to the middle weight flavors that possess a bit better mid-palate density while delivering solid length if not great complexity. Still, this is unusually seductive for such a young Clos de Vougeot.
