American Alex Gambal visited Burgundy back in the 1990’s, fell in love with it, and left the world of real estate. Twenty years later Domaine Alex Gambal is a part of Burgundy’s fine wine families. Today, two thirds of the wines come from the Domaine’s 12 hectares of vines certified organic. The goal is to express character, terroir and purity of each wine.
We tasted the 2016 vintage in February and were amazed by the OUTSTANDING quality—this is a Burgundy lover’s essential wine to have in their cellar AND it is not a very well-known brand to the general public, mostly for insiders. True Burgundy gems!!
BH89-92 A smoky array is comprised by notes of spiced pear, apple compote and a floral hint, all of which is enveloped by soft wood nuances. There is lovely intensity to the rich and relatively refined middle weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere finale. This is also quite good.
