2017 Pierres-Sèches Roussanne

WSI93+ JD92 Made from 100% Roussanne, the 2017 Saint Joseph Sylvain Blanc offers an exotic, tropical bouquet of exotic white fruits, white flowers, spice, and obvious minerality. It’s juicy, medium to full-bodied, upfront, nicely balanced, and has a clean finish. It’s another rocking wine as well as a great value from this estate.
VIN91 Pale yellow. Vibrant and sharply focused on the nose, displaying fresh citrus and orchard fruit scents complemented by ginger and dusty mineral nuances. Sappy and incisive on the palate, offering juicy Meyer lemon and green apple flavors that become deeper with air. In a juicy, graceful style, carrying no excess fat. The strong, persistent finish echoes the citrus fruit and mineral notes.
Winemaker notes: Aromas of citrus, green apple, crisp pear, crushed stones, floral notes. Fresh, juicy, refined.  Hand-harvested. Pressed full cluster; fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks on indigenous yeasts. Aged for six months in older French oak barrels (three years old). Bottled unfined, with minimal added sulfur.  Estate hillside vineyards face south/southeast in the communes of Sarras and Ozon. Soils are mostly schist and more fertile loess (silt). 100% Roussanne
