2016 Purlieu Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

WA95 Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon gives up exuberant notions of blackcurrant pastilles, blackberry compote and stewed red plums with touches of kirsch, potpourri, fragrant earth and cigar box. Full-bodied and opulently fruited in the mouth, the powerful flavors are well framed by firm, ripe tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.
Estate Notes: Dark magenta in color, with luscious black fruit aromas bursting from the glass. A rich red fruit attack opens into an expressive palate of juicy blue fruit, blackcurrant, and subtle volcanic minerality. Brushed velvet textures caress the palate, with firm tannins and balanced acidity sustaining the wine’s plush ripeness through a lingering, sweet finish. Look for even greater expressivity with time.
