WSI95 JS94 A fragrant nose of mulberries, dark plums, smoke and baking spices. Sage and other fresh herbs, too. It’s full-bodied with firm tannins. Structured and serious on the palate with chocolate undertones and a core of dark fruit through the finish. Give it time to open. Drink in 2023.
Estate Notes: The Cabernet Sauvignon in this wine was grown on the prestigious Sugarloaf East Vineyard on a hillside southeast of downtown Napa. The Petit Verdot is from the Chinn Vineyard, a small family run vineyard in Coombsville. These fog cooled sites imbue aromas of lilac, dark berries, and delicate baking spices into the intriguing nose. Bright, rich flavors of blackberries and anise, with nuances of bitter-sweet chocolate fill the palate, and delightfully linger as the wine disappears. 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot. 21 months in 100% French oak barrels, 50% new for the vintage. 147 cases
COHO’s Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon includes vineyards as diverse as SummitVine Ranch near the top of Diamond Mountain, the Perata Vineyard on State Lane off Yountville Cross Road, and several small Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot vineyards located in the cool, rocky hillsides in Coombsville.
Examining each lot separately and then in various combinations allows COHO to build a wine that best reflects our goal of balanced supple wines; rich in spice and flavor, while maintaining the structure to keep the wine lively on the palate.
