2019 Sinegal St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon

VIN98 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as magnificent as it was last year. A heady, statuesque wine, the 2019 captures all the pedigree of the vintage. Inky red cherry fruit, mocha, licorice and spice race across the palate. The 2019 is bright, deep and powerful, with exceptional balance and tons of class. It’s a stunning wine, to say the least. The move towards a slightly less pushed style, with less overt oak signatures, has paid off big time. This is a fabulous showing.
JD96 Starting with the base cuvée, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon isn’t far off the Reserve and offers a sensational bouquet of ripe red and black currant fruits as well as chocolate, smoked tobacco, spice box, dried flowers, and classy oak. Young, up-front, full-bodied, and perfectly balanced, it has incredible purity of fruit, the sweet, velvety tannins that are common in the vintage, no hard edges, and a great finish. This is one heck of a sexy, seamless 2019 that can be enjoyed any time over the coming 20-25 years. The blend is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, and 3% Merlot, aged 20 months in 80% new French oak.
Estate Notes: The second release of our limited production Select Series Cabernet Sauvignon leads with aromas of raspberry and black currant, followed by notes of sweet, toasted oak and violet petals. The palate is lush and elegant with refined tannins, especially for such a young wine. Flavors of ripe blackberry and black cherry mix with notes of cedar box and wet stone. True to form, this wine has lovely depth and texture that are framed by polished tannins and bright acidity, giving it freshness and structure. The 2019s are showing beautifully in their youth but will no doubt be one of the more age-worthy vintages we’ve seen in a while.
