2021 Caladan Cabernet Franc Napa Valley

TWI100 The 2021 Cabernet Franc, with 20% Merlot in the blend, is deep garnet-purple in color. Wow – what a perfume! Evocative scents of kirsch, dried roses, cinnamon toast, and redcurrant preserves jump from the glass, followed by nuances of cardamom, fertile loam, mint tea, and pencil lead. The full-bodied palate is so bright and fragrant, with firm, beautifully ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length and loads of mineral sparks. This is stunning! It is a blend from four mountains, with the Merlot coming from Yverton Vineyard (Spring Mountain) and the Cabernet Franc from Yverton, Wallis, Mt. Brave, and Keyes.
JD98 The 2021 Cabernet Franc is a more elegant, almost Old World style expression of this incredible variety, and it’s every bit as impressive as the Red Blend. Coming from Spring and Diamond Mountain sites, it has a gorgeous array of red, blue, and black fruits with some classic Cabernet Franc orange blossom, black tea, and floral nuances. This medium to full-bodied, ultra-pure, seamless, incredibly elegant 2021 can be drunk today or cellared for two decades.
