2021 Domaine Ciringa Stajerska Sauvignon Blanc Fosilni Breg

WA92 The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Fosilni Breg is the village wine from the Ciringa lieu-dit. Macerated for 12 hours and aged on the full lees for 12 months and then for another six months on the fine lees in 2,400- to 4,000-liter casks, the wine offers an intense and coolish, very spicy and phenolic, even earthy nose with limestone and lemon rind as well as herbal and leafy aromas. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, this is a tight and textured, very elegant and juicy Sauvignon with stimulating bitters on the finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap closure. Tasted in May 2023.
VIN91 The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Fosilni Breg is wickedly spicy and fresh with a bouquet that leaps from the glass, mixing citrus zest with wildflowers and hints of ginger. This opens with a lovely inner sweetness contrasted by a twist of lime and green apple fruits, giving way to a saline tinge toward the close. The 2021 finishes with tremendous length and concentration yet remains perfectly fresh as notes of candied citrus fade. The value here is unprecedented.
