2021 O’Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

DEC94 This unique blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec, 2% St. Macaire, 1% Merlot, 1% Gros Verdot, 1% Carmenere, and 1% Cabernet Franc is culled together from three Estate vineyards in the Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville AVAs. A riveting, full-bodied red teeming with ripe and satiny textures, opulent red, black, and blue-toned fruits, with graceful, velvety tannins and a host of complex aromas and flavours that begin with black cherry, spiced plum, toasted fennel, maple and toffee, and end with cassis, graphite, mulberry, and espresso beans. A real pleasure palace.
JD94 A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec, 2% St. Macaire, and small amounts of other varieties, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is rocking stuff. Cassis, graphite, spicy oak, and savory herbs all emerge from this medium to full-bodied effort, which shows freshness, vibrancy, and purity, with sweet yet present tannins and a nicely focused, elegant mouthfeel. Drink over the coming 12-15 years.
VIN93 The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is bright, precise and vibrant, with red/purplish fruit, spice, lavender, rose petal and blood orange. Medium in body and supremely polished, the 2021 is a super-elegant wine that also shows the more nuanced style favored here today. The 2021 is a blend of fruit from the Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain and Oakville estate properties.
JS93 Powerful but polished, this full-bodied wine boasts generous dark fruit flavors, attractive oak spices and a good, moderately tannic texture. Nicely concentrated black cherry, dried plum, cedar and star anise nuances. Drink or hold.
Estate Notes: Blended from our three Estate vineyards in arguably the three best appellations within the Napa Valley: Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville. Howell Mountain gives us structure and ripe red fruit, while Mt. Veeder adds an extra punch of tannins along with savory mineral driven qualities, Oakville balances out the mountains with its silky texture and pure fruit. This Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby red with an opaque center. A sweet entry of milk chocolate and fresh caramel greets the nose. The palate is lush and rich with black cherry, plum, and blueberry. Fine-grained tannins are integrated seamlessly, making this an approachable wine with a long finish that can be enjoyed now or cellared for years to come.
