2022 Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley

OB97 A gorgeous effort from this slightly cooler vintage, the opulent 2022 Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon has a long way to go in the cellar. Needing about an hour in the decanter to be fully expressive, this edition is nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon with 6% Malbec blended in. Black currants and allspice combine on the nose with suggestions of cigar box, and Turkish coffee notes that all meld in the glass. The palate is generous and round with a terrific underlying verve. Gorgeous and mineral-laden, enjoy over the next twenty years. Tasted over several days. Drink 2026-2050

JD95 The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon exudes juicy cherry, plum, and cassis, a bit of tannin and oak spice, while developing full-bodied, concentrated layers of earthy dried herb and graphite. With 6% Malbec added before aging 22 months in new and once-filled French oak, it is well-integrated and cohesive on the lengthy palate, with a finesse on the finish. It should easily age another 20-30 years with proper cellaring.

Estate Notes: Intensely dark garnet to the rim. Beautiful, integrated, and developed aromatics, loaded with ripe plum and candied black cherry, followed by understated hints of chamomile tea and vanilla. The palate is rich with ample red and black fruits. A beautifully finessed balance of fruit, tannin, and acid, with a long, supple finish. Aged 22 months in new and once-filled French oak barrels and neutral oval Botti. 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec.
