2022 Domaine De Panisse ‘Le Mas’ Châteauneuf-du-Pâpe

WA95 A brilliant wine in the making, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Mas exhales deep, elegant aromas of violet, lilac, dark cherries and garrigue, followed by a medium to full-bodied, round and gourmand palate enhanced by velvety tannins, bright acids and a fleshy core of fruit that leads the way to a long, peppery and savory finish. This is a blend of 55% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and 5% Cinsault, all planted on La Janasse lieu-dit.
JD93+ The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Mas from the Vacheron family checks in as 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 15% each Mourvèdre and Cinsault that’s from the cooler northeastern region of the appellation. Its deeper ruby hue is followed by a juicy, pretty, medium-bodied effort offering bright cherry and floral aromatics, a juicy spine of acidity, fine yet building tannins, and outstanding length. Youthful and unevolved, it’s going to benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar.
