WSI96 WP94 The 2022 Marsanne was aged 14 months in new French oak puncheon, concrete egg, and amphora. Perfumed notes of spiced pears, apple butter and orange blossoms slowly emerge from the glass, plus hints of allspice and baking bread. The light-bodied palate is dry and refreshing with a compelling phenolic grip to the texture and a long savory finish. Love it!
WA93 A passion project for the owners, Vangone’s 2022 Marsanne coms from two small blocks planted at meter-by-meter spacing and trained to single stakes, a la Hermitage or St. Péray. A new French oak puncheon contributes notes of toasted almond and marshmallow, while the concrete egg and amphora are presumably more neutral, allowing the variety’s pear, quince and honey notes to shine. Only medium-bodied (12.5% alcohol), this wine is nevertheless plump and rounded this vintage, with a crushe
