WP94 The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon The Baron is made from 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of fresh black currants, kirsch, and mulberries, plus nuances of cedar chest, tar, clove oil, and wet slate. Full-bodied, the palate delivers a firm line of grainy tannins with bold freshness to frame the muscular black fruit, finishing long and cedary. Pairing:Roast Beef, Grilled Lamb, Grilled Steak, Game. Estate Notes: 2023 was an excellent growing season in Napa Valley and the Montagu Baron Cabernet Sauvignon was able to balance rich fruit with the incredible freshness and structure the vintage gave us. Amazing hang time allowed full flavor development with gradual ripening. The Baron is layered, rich and delicious with dark red and black fruit accompanied by a silky texture. It is approachable young but will age for a decade or more. 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot. 22 Months French Oak aging (75% new)
