Paternoster ‘Synthesi’ Aglianico del Vulture DOC

WSI93 VIN90 The 2018 Aglianico del Vulture Synthesi is dark and brooding in the glass, mixing black currants with flowery underbrush, ash and nuances of blood orange. It washes across the palate, pure and lifted in style, with nervous acidity that further accelerates the expression, as mentholated herbal tones give way to tart wild blueberries. The 2018 tapers off with tension while taking on more of a floral profile, and it leaves the palate pleasantly refreshed. 13% alc.

Ilaria Napa Valley Malbec

TWI93 A blend of 77% Malbec and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Ilaria Malbec has a deep garnet-purple color. It needs a fair bit of swirling to unlock powerful notes of plum preserves, chocolate-covered cherries, and lilacs, leading to suggestions of clove oil and fallen leaves. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with bright, energetic black fruits and captivating floral sparks, framed by velvety tannins and lovely tension, finishing with great persistence.

Scopone ‘Rimani’ Toscana IGT

JS93 Good depth of aromas on the nose, showing dark chili chocolate, blackberries and roasted spices. A touch of cigar box, too. This is quite full-bodied and structured with tight, four-square tannins providing a solid, powerful backbone to the palate.
Estate Notes: 2021 works with the international varieties planted by Tachis. Primarily Bordeaux varieties (50% Cab Sauv, 30% Merlot and Syrah, 20% Sangiovese) it is full-bodied and polished with the savory freshness and dusty minerality that is unmistakably Montalcino.

Domaine Les Hautes Cances Cairanne

JS93 A dense and focused blend of grenache, syrah, mourvedre and cinsault. It shows notes of sweet cherries, strawberries, wild herbs and baking spices. It’s full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Tense core of sweet berries and spices mingle at the center. It is well-built and has a spicy edge on the palate, bringing plenty of energy. Fruity and slightly chewy on the finish at this stage. Try after 2026.
