Like its namesake, this Griffin is a powerful combination of strengths. The blended characters of Petite Sirah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Charbono and Syrah deliver rich raspberry flavors balanced with fresh acidity. Having just enough grip in the finish makes this a very approachable, versatile, food-friendly red wine. This year’s bottling offers a well-balanced blend of classic claret varieties (Merlot and Petit Verdot) and my favorite Rhone-rooted varieties of Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Charbono. The 2017 vintage blend is 30% Petite Sirah, 26% Merlot, 21% Petit Verdot, 14% Charbono, and 9% Syrah.
