2018 Localism Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville Napa Valley

Estate Notes: 2018 was an ideal vintage with a cool, long growing season and virtually no major heat spikes. These balanced weather conditions provided the framework to craft a finely tuned, concentrated and aromatic wine. The nose reveals enticing aromas of fresh picked blueberries, followed by notes of sweet leather and baking spice. On the palate, there are flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate, and hints of dried thyme. The wine leaves a lasting impression from its supple tannins, bramble black fruits, and shows lift and length from the bright acidity, all attributes of the cooler Coombsville AVA.
We source our Cabernet Sauvignon from the Schwartz Vineyard, located in Coombsville, east of downtown Napa. The Coombsville AVA has a cooler growing season than other areas of Napa Valley, as its proximity to the San Pablo bay provides a more moderate climate and frequent fog. These factors combine to create a long, moderate growing season. We have the unique opportunity to directly manage the Schwartz vineyard, where we implement organic processes and sustainable practices. Being in control of the vineyard allows us to fine tune each vine, producing premium Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, reflecting the cool climate and terroir of Coombsville. 5 barrels made.
