2020 Buscemi ‘Tartaraci’ Terre Siciliane IGT

VIN93 An enticing blend of wild strawberries, blueberries, sage and white pepper makes the 2020 Rosso Tataraci impossible to ignore. This is a model of purity, with crisp wild berry fruits and sweet inner violet florals resonating atop a staining of exotic spice. It tapers o! with tension, leaving the cheeks puckered with a tart cranberry concentration as gently grippy tannins take hold. Very nice. The Rosso Tataraci is a blend of Nerello Mascalese and Grenache from a vineyard at 980 meters of elevation in the northwest of Etna.
Estate Notes: ‘Tartaraci’ vineyard is like no other plot on Etna, at nearly 3,000 feet in altitude with a northern exposure, yet still Mediterranean-influenced and wild in its beauty and vinous potential. Here Nerello Mascalese and Grenache are blended for a delicate yet potent red, full of silk and substance, endlessly refined and oh-so fresh.
Aromas of fresh raspberries and red cherries, incense and crushed stones, light peppery notes. Refined and smooth, fine- grained tannins; impeccable balance and freshness. Hand-harvested. Destemmed; fermented on indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled concrete tanks. Aged in tank for 18 months.
Bottled unfiltered. 70% Nerello Mascalese, 30% Grenache. 90 year-old vines, on average.
