WA94 The 2021 Chenin Blanc was matured in stainless steel and 20% used oak for six months. It has very pretty scents of white peach, honeysuckle, beeswax, biscuit and green herbs. The palate is silky, mouthwatering and surprisingly gregarious with intense, nutty fruit and a long, elegant finish. Generous yet structured, the Aperture Chenin Blanc is getting better every year, and this 2021 is worthy of 3-5+ years in bottle. 3,294 cases produced.
Estate Notes: These heritage grapes from the Clarksburg vineyard benefit from naturally warm days and brisk, cool nights made possible by the “Delta Breeze” from the San Francisco Bay. These temperature gusts help create a long growing season and beautifully developed fruit.
Our Chenin Blanc is among the most profound in the state, and the incredible soil is a big reason why. Because the Chenin vines sink their roots deep into Clarksburg’s clay-loam soils, they have the opportunity to pull power and presence from deep within the earth. Combine that with the “Delta Breeze” that sweeps in from the San Francisco Bay, allowing the fruit to ripen fully and at a perfectly leisurely pace, and Jesse is given all the raw materials he needs to craft a Chenin Blanc of weight and detail.
