2022 Aperture Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

IWR96 The 2022 Aperture Cabernet Sauvignon, enhanced by 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Merlot, spent 18 months maturing in 55% new French oak, developing a rich and layered character. In the glass, it opens with aromas of ripe blackberries, crushed black currants, and dried lavender, accompanied by undertones of cigar leaf, wet stone, and warm baking spices. The aromatic complexity continues to deepen with time, revealing a subtle touch of vanilla and sandalwood. On the palate, this wine balances intensity with finesse, offering flavors of black plum, cherry compote, and a hint of cocoa powder, all lifted by vibrant acidity. The tannins are fine-grained yet firm, giving the wine a polished, textured structure. A lingering finish carries notes of spiced black fruit, herbal undertones, and a faint mineral edge. A little over 8000 cases made. Highly recommended.
JD95 The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with more blue fruit and floral notes, presenting a fresh and pure character with aromas of crème de cassis, blueberries, lavender, sweet herbs, and fresh leather. It has the addition of 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Merlot in the blend and was aged for 18 months in 55% new French oak. The palate is plush and inviting, with notes of fresh earth underneath its more primary fruit and a well-defined ripe texture. Drink 2026-2040. 8,150 cases were produced.
WA94 The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 1% Merlot and was matured for 18 months in 55% new French oak. It unfurls dramatically on the nose, red and black cherry preserves giving way to lilac, tobacco, cast iron and new oak spices. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with perfumed fruit. It’s structured by dusty tannins and mouthwatering acidity and has a long, nuanced finish. 8,150 cases produced.
