DEC96 Winemaker Julien Fayard says he’s seeking texture in this wine, aiming for wider tannins and volume. This is a barrel selection from Beckstoffer George III in Rutherford, and it delivers a full-bodied, rich experience with powerful, elongated tannins that land first, gradually resolving as dark, ripe, creamy fruit pushes through to fill the mid-palate with sophisticated richness. It’s a polished and attractive wine, one to enjoy for its youthful opulence now and over the next 7-10 years.
