JD97 Based on 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc raised in 66% new French oak, the 2022 The Mark boasts brilliant aromas of red and black currants, gunflint, chocolate, and spicy, savory herbs. Full-bodied and pure on the palate, it shows the ripe, fruit-forward style of the vintage while delivering brilliant depth and richness, with ripe, integrated tannins. Best after 2-3 years of bottle age, drink over the following 12-15 years.
WP96 The 2022 The Mark Proprietary Red is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts with bold notes of red currant jelly and black cherries, followed by hints of pencil shavings, roses, and tilled soil. The medium to full-bodied palate is elegantly styled with soft acidity and fine-grained tannins supporting the bright, nuanced fruit, finishing long and fragrant. Estate Notes: Opaque purple in color. Notes of both fresh plum and prune burst from the glass. Warm boysenberry liqueur notes and toasty baking spices accent the black fruit, along with wraiths of gravel, sagebrush, and cocoa. Lively acidity perks up the palate, which along with decidedly firm tannin promises a long life in the cellar.
