JD95 Brilliant aromas of red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, wood smoke, and crushed stone emerge from the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard. Full-bodied and rich on the palate, it offers a lush, forward, opulent mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a lengthy finish. While not massively concentrated, the balance is spot on, showing terrific purity and no hard edges. This 100% Cabernet aged in 75% new French oak will drink beautifully over the coming 15+ years.
WP95 The 2022 Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, warm cassis and plum preserves notes leap from the glass with nuances of Chinese five spice, bay leaves, and dusty soil in the background. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers lightly chewy tannins and a lively line to counter the generous black fruit, finishing on a savory note. Estate Notes: Deep opaque purple color. Fresh and vibrant on the nose, with striking crême de cassis aromas, accented by fig cake, blueberry jam, and mocha. In both the aromas and on the palate, the oak used in this wine’s upbringing is beautifully well-integrated. Mouthfilling, with soft tannins, this is balanced and harmonious with hints of cappuccino coursing through the minutes-long finish. It’s a wine with decades to go.
