2022 Summer Dreams ‘Walking on Venice Beach’ Sauvignon Blanc

DEC97 A fantastically dense and rich rendition of California Sauvignon Blanc from cool hillside vineyards in West Sonoma Coast and the Eastern Slope atop Goldridge soils at 274-579 metres. Terrific purity of fruit ranging from fragrant tangerine and lemon blossoms to a richer palate of apricots, lime zest and amazing saline minerality. Bright acid tension offers a lift to the wet stone finish. 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Musqué. Aged in high-grade stainless steel, expensive new French oak barriques, and pink-staved acacia wood. Jayson Woodbridge began making Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines under the Summer Dreams label from cool-climate vineyards on the extreme Sonoma Coast in 2019. Ashley Holland, a protégé of Bob Cabral, works in the cellar and focuses primarily on the white wines of Summer Dreams. A winery for Summer Dreams is being built outside Healdsburg and will be fully operational in 2024. Jayson describes it as ‘completely custom designed like a cross between a templar citadel and space-X and NASA’.
JD94 Rocking stuff, the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Walking On Venice Beach has a gorgeous perfume of quince, honeyed citrus, white flowers, and a kiss of chalky minerality that all define the aromatics, and it’s medium-bodied, vibrant, and fresh, with remarkable purity.
