2022 Summer Dreams ‘Stargazing’ Pinot Noir West Sonoma Coast

WSI96+ Glimmering in the glass like a polished ruby stone, splashes of red berry fruit linger with cedar and sandalwood. Medium-bodied and electric with energy, bursts of dark fruit, earthy accents, and floral notes are framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a racy backbone that finishes long and tingly. Spicy, complex, sensational. 100% new French oak, 20% in puncheons. Whole berries 100% destemmed and fermented in a mix of new and used French oak puncheons and open top tanks.
DEC96 This was one of the first wines Jayson Woodbridge (of Hundred Acre fame) conjured up for his new Summer Dreams label because he loves to stargaze during the summer months. Like what the stargazer sees, this wine offers a multidimensional scope. It’s super aromatic, with a mystical stardust minerality that elevates it. Fabulous rich cedarwood, toffee, and brown spices mixed with cigar box and dried violets, accented by rich conifer notes. The wine has a beautifully structured framework of sappy tannins, supporting plush, brown-spice-scented red berry fruit with impressive length and laser focus. It’s like going to a concert in the Sphere in Las Vegas. In 2019, Jayson Woodbridge of Hundred Acre began producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir under the Summer Dreams label, using fruit from cool-climate vineyards on the extreme Sonoma Coast. This 100% Pinot Noir from the West Sonoma Coast is crafted from whole berries, fermented in open-top tanks and puncheons, using a mix of Demptos, Taransaud, and Cavin barrels. The wine is bottled unfined.
TWI95 Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2022 Stargazing Pinot Noir storms out of the glass with evocative scents of pomegranate, red currant jelly, and lavender oil, followed by hints of menthol and pepper and with a waft of wild blueberries. The medium to full-bodied palate is silky and vibrant with well-knit freshness and a long, layered finish.
