2023 Caterwaul Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford

JD96 A new cuvée from the Wilsey Vineyard, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford sports a deep purple hue as well as a brilliant nose of ripe, chocolaty dark fruits, spice, and loamy earth. It’s full-bodied, deep, rich, pure, and polished, with excellent balance, ripe tannins, nicely integrated oak, and a great finish. I love it today yet see no reason it shouldn’t evolve for 15-20 years. Drink 2025-2040.

WA93-95 A new addition to the Caterwaul lineup, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford delivers notes of black cherries and dusty earth. It’s full-bodied and perhaps even slightly warm, with a welcoming creamy-lushness on the palate and some velvety tannins on the lingering finish.
