Aromas of Meyer lemons and sea salt, bright acidity; a flavorful reflection of sea-inspired terroir. Hand-harvested and sorted in the fields. Gentle, full-cluster press; fermented on indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. Aged in tank on fine lees for three months. On the island of Salina, vineyards sit from 600 to 1,200 feet above sea level in the Malfa district (the highest quality vine-growing area) with a view of the Mediterranean. Soils are a mix of volcanic sand and rock. 90% Malvasia di Lipari and 10% other local varieties, grown in the total respect of nature, in 20 small vineyards located in areas with sandy and volcanic soil.
Antonio Caravaglio has grown his Malvasia organically since the 90’s. This white grape is native to Sicilia and here on the volcanic soils in the Malfa district on the island of Salina, takes on a unique clean minerlal brightness while retaining the hallmark aromaties of Malvasia. This wine reflects its sea inspired terroir perfectly, citrus, sea salt, and wild flowers. Drink as an aperitif or with fried calamari.
