WA92 The 2024 Superior Branco has more complexity and nuance than the regular Branco. It’s pale, harmonious and spicy, showy, clean, fresh and balanced. It was produced with a blend of 60% Viosinho and 40% Verdelho from vines at high altitude on granite soils in the Douro Superior. It fermented with selected yeasts in stainless steel and matured in French oak barrels, 50% of them new, for six months with bâtonnage. It’s showy and attractive with integrated oak and very good freshness and balance. It has contained ripeness, 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.34 and 6.1 grams of acidity. 61,934 bottles and 300 magnums produced. It was bottled from June 2025.
Estate Notes: Pale lemon in colour, clear and bright. Remarkably intense, pure and focused on the nose, showing fresh citrus notes — lime and grapefruit — delicately integrated with floral hints of orange blossom, supported by a vibrant mineral matrix. Fresh, precise and tight on the palate, offering a lively natural acidity that gives the wine a noteworthy energy. It evolves with depth, balance and freshness into a serious wine, with excellent volume and engaging texture. This is clearly a food-friendly wine, with a long, persistent and precise finish. Its well-integrated natural acidity and its solid and balanced structure reveal excellent capacity for ageing in the bottle. 60% Viosinho; 40% Verdelho.
