NV ZD ‘Abacus XXII’ Cabernet Sauvignon

The First Bottling of Abacus was released in 1999. ZD Wines and the deLeuze family are celebrating 52 years of winemaking this fall coinciding with the limited release of the 22nd Bottling of Abacus. This multi-vintage blend showcases 28 vintages of ZD’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon dating back to 1992.

In the spring, ZD’s winemaking team infused the base ‘solera’ (1992-2018 vintages) with a small percentage of the youngest vintage of 2019 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon prior to bottling. Abacus is ever evolving with the depth and complexity of an aged wine combined with the fresh fruit character of a younger wine. A one-of-a-kind 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that is ready for enjoyment today and will continue to age gracefully for many years to come. 

Abacus, ZD Wines’ legendary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, is a multi-vintage blend that artfully expresses the depth and complexity of a well-aged wine, infused with a touch of forward fruit and the intensity of a younger wine. It is defined by ZD Wines’ Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, which has been produced every year since 1992. The wine is aged for three years in the barrel which allows access to the young reserve wines as a blending component to Abacus. Hence, there is always a component of young, fruit forward wine available to infuse into the ever-developing Abacus solera. The current bottling of Abacus XXII is a masterful blend of 28 vintages of ZD’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (1992-2019).
