2018 Tarrawatta Cabernet Sauvignon Eden Valley Barossa

JD94 The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ambervale has plenty of classic Cabernet currant and cassis fruits as well as a complex underbelly of cedarwood, forest floor, tobacco, and violets. These all carry to a medium to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with beautiful purity of fruit, ripe and certainly present tannins, and a solid spine of acidity that’s going to keep this evolving nicely for 10-15 years.
JS94 Loads of black truffles and blackberries with some bark and pine-tree undertones. Some herbs, too. Full-bodied with juicy fruit and medium chewy tannins. Soft and juicy. Try after 2022.
VIN93 Opaque ruby. Smoke-accented cherry and cassis aromas are complemented by candied licorice, vanilla, and pipe tobacco flourishes. Smooth and broad on entry and then more taut in the mid-palate, offering concentrated dark fruit preserve, mocha and spicecake flavors and a hint of candied flowers. Closes on a cherry liqueur note, showing strong persistence and slowly building tannins.
