Wine Spectrum has been a big fan of Bydand’s limited-production wines for many years. Our team loves the wines and jumped at the opportunity to video Colin Gordon and Tim Beranek on their estate vineyard in Napa Valley. Bydand not only produces a delicious Napa Valley Cabernet, and Red Blend—they are also adept at producing beautiful Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from prominent vineyards in the Sonoma Coast. Bydand wines are immediately intriguing, flavorful and enjoyable yet possess great cellaring potential.

Colin Gordon and Tim Beranek worked together at Kosta Browne in 2010 and Outpost in 2013 before Gordon founded Bydand Wines in 2014. Bydand is the Gordon family motto meaning “stand and fight”. Gordon and Veranek meticulously farm each vineyard for top quality Bydand fruit. Given Napa and Sonoma are saturated with great winemakers, Bydand’s wines indeed stand and deliver.

Winemaker Tim Beranek began working under acclaimed, 100PT winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown at Outpost in 2011 and then on to Mending Wall as Assistant Winemaker and then progressed to the role of Winemaker. Tim handcrafts structured, yet elegant wines that fully express the varietal, vineyard and vintage character.
